How to Turn a Small Box Room into a Dressing Room
Like many homeowners, Becky Nevitt (aka @insidenumber5) had a small box room that she dreamed of transforming into a stylish, practical dressing room. Becky knew exactly what she wanted — a beautifully calm, layered, and functional room that made the most of every inch of space . And with clever fitted furniture, she turned that vision into reality.
As a single mum taking on a full home renovation solo, Becky needed a space that not only looked stunning but also worked hard for everyday life. With a window cutting into the longest wall, standard freestanding wardrobes simply wouldn’t work — so a bespoke fitted design was the perfect solution.
From Small Spare Room to Dream Dressing Room
Becky had a clear vision from the start: “I went for fitted furniture over freestanding because I wanted to make the most of every inch. I had a clear idea of how I needed it to work – a laundry cupboard as you come in, a built-in dressing table under the window, and then as much space as possible inside for clothes, accessories, and shoes.”
The final layout features a mix of double and full-length hanging, pull-out shoe racks, and smart compartments that keep everything beautifully organised. Every feature was chosen to balance style with function — the hallmark of thoughtful fitted design.
Clever Storage Solutions and Beautiful Finishing Touches
Becky collaborated closely with the My Fitted Bedroom design team throughout the design process, ensuring every detail reflected her vision. She chose our Elle design in Cashmere, a soft, brown-toned neutral that brings a warm and sophisticated vibe to the space. And the classic Shaker-style doors, cornice finish, and mix-and-match handles tie in beautifully with the rest of her home’s calm, natural aesthetic.
The installation itself was just as seamless as the design phase. “Fitting was so professional and so satisfying to watch come together. I had such a clear vision of how I wanted it to look – and My Fitted Bedroom helped me bring all of that to life,” Becky enthused. “From the CAD drawings to being able to see the samples, we planned every detail together. They just completely got my vision, and it made all the difference!”

The finished dressing room is both elegant and efficient — a reflection of Becky’s personality and lifestyle. It’s a tranquil, beautifully layered space where everything has its place.
“I needed the design to be beautiful but also really functional,” Becky continued. “Turning my blank room into this dream dressing space has honestly been one of the most exciting parts of the renovation so far. I couldn’t be happier.”
