Three Top Bedroom Decor Trends from Milan Design Week 2025

Milan Design Week 2025 has come and gone in a whirlwind of creativity, colour, and innovation. Arguably the event of the year in the global design calendar, the show takes place every April and attracts hundreds of thousands of designers, curators, buyers, editors and visitors. For design lovers, it’s like the Oscars for interiors and this year’s event was absolutely bursting with trends that are set to make their way into UK homes. From bold and playful maximalism to reflective metallics and the human touch, Milan Design Week and Salone del Mobile 2025 have set the tone for the next wave of interior design.

Here’s what’s trending loud and clear and how you can get the look with My Fitted Bedroom…

Playful Maximalism: The Bolder, the Better

Minimalism, move aside – 2025 is all about embracing big personality. Playful maximalism is officially here, and it’s bolder and more expressive than ever. Notable designers ubiquitously embraced vibrant colour, whimsical form, sculptural furniture, and a mix of eclectic materials. Louis Vuitton showcased a leather, flower-shaped record player alongside a futuristic pinball machine designed by Pharrell Williams, while Loewe’s artist-designed teapot exhibition effortlessly blended functionality with artistic flair.

Playful Maximalism is the fearless energy we didn’t know our bedrooms were missing. It’s vibrant, full of personality, and the total opposite of playing it safe. Think dramatic feature walls in deep emerald or midnight blue, layered with blush pink bedding, bold printed cushions, sculptural lighting, and a piece of statement art above your headboard. It’s all about curated expression rather than chaos.

We’re seeing a big shift away towards bedrooms that feel alive. Colour clashes that work (and make you smile), plush textures layered with metallic accents, and clever combos like glossy wardrobes paired with matte drawers or rich wood against velvet headboards. The magic of this trend lies in the fact that it’s as bold as you want it to be – just one striking element can completely transform your space.

We love how maximalism in the bedroom lets people break the rules and create something that feels personal and joyful. A wardrobe doesn’t have to be neutral; try coloured door fronts – like our Elise design in blush pink – instead. Or a dressing area that doubles as an art wall. It’s all about mixing, matching, and layering with confidence. Milan showed us that the future of interiors is expressive, eclectic and totally human—and we’re here for it.

The Reflective Renaissance

Shiny chrome, aluminium, and mirror finishes were the big visual moment at this year’s show, from Hiroto Yoshizoe’s glimmering ‘ubique’ lights to Nilufar Depot’s entire ‘Silver Lining’ concept. Designers leaned into luminosity and depth, with highly reflective surfaces being used not just for drama but also to experientially manipulate space and light in innovative ways.

If you want to make your bedroom feel bigger, brighter, and just that little bit more luxe, reflective finishes – from mirrored wardrobes to chrome handles and high-shine surfaces – are the way forward. This trend is all about bouncing light around the bedroom, adding depth to your décor aesthetic, and dialling up the glamour without going full disco ball.

Bedrooms can often be a little on the snug side, so reflective materials are a clever way to visually expand the space. Mirrored furniture – like our Chateau fitted wardrobes with Curve feature door shown here – not only look chic, but they also make the whole room feel lighter and more open. Chrome or brushed metallic details on drawer handles and lighting features add a subtle glimmer, instantly lifting the space.

And what makes this trend really work is the balance. Pair glossy surfaces with soft, tactile fabrics like velvet throws, boucle cushions, or a plush rug underfoot. The mix of shine and softness creates instant visual interest that’s just the right side of glam.

At My Fitted Bedroom, we love using reflective finishes to add that sleek, modern edge while keeping things warm and personal. Whether it’s a mirrored wardrobe, a metallic-finish bedside table, or just a hint of gloss on your cabinetry, it’s an easy way to elevate your bedroom into a space that literally shines.

Craft, Heritage, and the Human Touch

One of the most inspiring things we saw in Milan was a return to craftsmanship and human-centric design. SaloneSatellite’s ‘New Craftsmanship’ theme was a fabulous example of this, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and personal connection in modern interior design. Brands like Cassina and Natuzzi revisited their archives, breathing new life into classic pieces with a fresh, modern twist. The focus was on creating furniture and spaces that not only look good but also feel good, from layout to texture, everything was designed mood and wellbeing in mind.

And we couldn’t agree more! To see Milan Design Week shine such a strong light on craft and heritage, local materials, and timeless design values really resonated; the future of furniture design is all about creating pieces with purpose, precision, longevity, and personality.

People are turning away from throwaway trends and flat-pack quick fixes. They want furniture that feels rooted in something – whether that’s their own story, crafted for them or a time-honoured technique. This trend—Design for Humans—is really the heart of everything. It’s a reminder that furniture isn’t just about function, it’s about feeling. When someone comes to us for fitted furniture, they’re not just asking for a wardrobe or a media unit. They’re asking for a space that makes their life easier, more beautiful, more them.

Comfort is a huge part of it. It’s not just how something looks, but how it works for the way you live. Does that built-in bench actually invite you to sit and stay a while? Does your home office make you feel focused, calm, inspired? We ask those questions at every stage of the design process.

Good design shouldn’t just look human, it should feel human. Design for Humans might sound like a trend, but for us, it’s the standard. It’s what makes a house a home.
