The Rise of AirBNB and how fitted wardrobes are helping hosts with their business

Recent figures from AirBNB state they now have over 5 million hosts with over 7 million listings across every corner of the planet. Although there are vastly differing properties available there are just 2 categories of hosts, those who operate only as a business with a property they never occupy themselves or those who are happy to have guests in their living space.
We have found that both types of hosts are turning to companies like ours to help make their properties more desirable to people whilst browsing for a property and equally as important to help keep an interior clutter free and personal possessions secure. Whilst most hosting sites ban the use of interior CCTV systems there does need to be some security for hosts.
Fitted wardrobes and other integrated storage throughout a home in bedrooms, hallways, even under-stair areas—provide a practical and stylish solution to the host/guest dichotomy
Built-in cupboards offer lockable, private compartments for homeowners, ensuring personal items are safely out of view and reach. Where cupboard doors are push to open so without handles they are less obviously storing something.
As well as the security advantages, custom built wardrobes blend with décor, presenting clean, minimal spaces for guests while concealing what lies behind. Just like top rated hotels, a host needs their property to offer a more stylish experience than their competition.
Fitted storage in kitchens, boot rooms, utility rooms, or living areas allows hosts to designate private vs guest access without compromising overall aesthetics. So as well as the advantages fitted furniture can bring for a hoist, guests appreciate uncluttered and thoughtfully designed spaces, so an absence of visible storage noise or clutter can reduce booking hesitations. This improved environment also feeds the lifeblood of any hosts bookings – better reviews, which in turn leads to more bookings.
We have seen a definite trend over the last 3 years of customers inviting us to design for them with one eye on the hosting marketplace, giving our bedroom designers some other challenges to consider. We have always specialised in creating stylish storage but usually for the family home, recent trends mean we have developed a quasi-commercial design element for many customers.
Ultimately as with any design team, our job is to adapt to customer needs and tastes and wherever possible develop new solutions for what may really be an age-old problem and doing so in style.
