Creating a Dreamy, Bespoke Fitted Walk-Wardrobe with Laurie Davidson

Here at MyFittedBedroom, we pride ourselves on our ability to craft made-to-measure, space-optimised wardrobes that can breathe new life into our clients’ previously underused spaces. Never was this showcased more than in our recent collaboration with renowned interior stylist and writer, Laurie Davidson. We teamed up to convert her spare room into a well organised dressing room/walk-in wardrobe that also doubles up as a guest room.

As a professional in home improvement, Laurie has styled several residential interiors and shares her design insights in various home magazines, including ‘Style At Home’. So, when Laurie (@lifeofaninteriorstylist on Instagram) entrusted us with designing her dream walk-in wardrobe, we knew the end product would be a masterpiece..and it was! 

Initially the room in question was simply a storage space, brimming with clothes and accessories but not space optimised. Laurie had a clear vision for how the underused storage space could be morphed into a well-organised, spacious dressing room, with the ability to accommodate guests as and when needed. Our designer visited Laurie’s Surrey home to better understand her requirements and together they devised a plan of action.

The fundamental design element of the fitted wardrobes was utilising every inch of space. With this in mind, we employed a horseshoe style design stretching from the floor to the ceiling, using three walls in the room. This solution included a blend of single and double hanging sections, internal drawers and shelves within the fitted wardrobes.

For the exterior, Laurie opted for our all new uber sleek Luna doors in beautiful Clover green. To further elevate the storage capabilities of the wardrobe an island unit was installed. Equipped with casters, this flexible fitted bedroom unit could be effortlessly moved around in order to provide room for a guest bed when needed.

In the process of a fitted wardrobe design, Laurie stresses the importance of taking stock of your clothes, getting rid of anything you no longer need. This ensures that your design truly mirrors your storage needs.

We are proud to say that the final result was nothing short of a breathtaking, tropically inspired dressing room. Laurie’s enchanting new walk-in wardrobe features green-finished doors and island, seamlessly contrasting with the room’s vibrant palette.
