Maximising storage space in a teen’s small bedroom

We love this bedroom transformation and we hope you do too! It shows how our fitted bedroom furniture can really maximise every inch of space in a small room and create a cosy bedroom with ample storage.

Kerry Villers is renowned for her beautiful interiors, and her design inspiration for people who love period houses and vintage style, which she shares on Instagram (@kerryvillers).

When she came to us to help create the perfect bedroom for her teenage son, we knew the finished result would be something very special and stylish.

Her son’s bedroom is the smallest room in the house, so Kerry was looking for storage solutions that would ensure the room isn’t cluttered. We worked closely with Kerry to create built-in wardrobes, with intelligent storage inside, a cabin bed with cupboard space and we also designed a built in desk.

She told us: “We are thrilled with the fitted bedroom that we’ve received. The process went very smoothly from the design through to installation and completion. My son is thrilled with the finished space, which has made it much easier for him to keep tidy and has also given him extra seating to enjoy when his friends come over. The finish of the products is to a very high standard.”

We asked Kerry to explain more about the transformation…

What was the room like before? What problem were you trying to solve?

My son’s bedroom is the smallest in the house and we struggled to find furniture or freestanding storage solutions that worked. We’ve tried lots of different pieces of furniture, but it always ended up looking cluttered.

Why did you choose fitted furniture?

My son was constantly moving his furniture around to try and find a layout that worked, which only made the room feel more chaotic so we wanted something more practical.

How did you hear about My Fitted Bedroom?

I love following My Fitted Bedroom’s instagram and social media channels! I saw an influencer share their bedroom transformation and loved the fitted wardrobes!

We chose something similar, which is the popular Elise door design in Classic Blue and I love it!

Did you have a clear idea of what you wanted before the My Fitted Bedroom designer arrived for your free design visit?

Yes, we had seen some designs we liked on the My Fitted Bedroom website, which showed us the kind of look we wanted to replicate, but the designer was very helpful in recommending a design to us that suited the space.

Did the designer suggest anything you hadn’t considered before?

Absolutely, he managed to incorporate so much more storage than we thought was possible, which was perfect and super helpful!

How did you find the design process?

Slick, efficient and I loved the designer who came out to see us. He was really friendly and knowledgeable. I was really impressed how helpful I really found the design visit! Everyone that we worked with from the My Fitted Bedroom team have been absolutely great.

How long did it take for your furniture to be installed and how was the installation process?

Only a day or two. I was amazed at how quickly they worked! Again, the fitters were lovely and very professional. They did a great job. The installation process was super easy, there was no disruption within the house at all.  The fitters cleaned up before they left the job.

I would be very happy to use My Fitted Bedroom again and would recommend them to friends and family, both for service and quality! Thank you so much.”
