Sleek and refined storage with a cleverly concealed surprise
With baby number two on the way, lifestyle influencer, Kimberley Chiltern, was in need of a master bedroom revamp to free up space ahead of her new arrival. With a relatively small master bedroom and no existing fitted storage, she was keen to maximise the space as much as possible
Here Kimberley explains how we solved her bedroom storage dilemma …
What was the room like before … why was it time for a makeover?
Our master bedroom was in desperate need of storage that really utilised the space in what is quite a small room. With our second child on the way we needed to remove clutter from the other bedrooms and make the most of the space that we had – ensuring that all of our clothes and shoes could be stored away in our bedroom.
How did you find the design visit?
The My Fitted Bedroom designer was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He really listened to how we used the space and designed the wardrobes to cater specifically for us. He was absolutely pivotal in creating the layout that we wanted. He suggested the drawers in the middle section and also showed us how we could conceal our TV. Ahead of the home design visit I knew that I wanted a particular door design but I didn’t have a clear vision of the final look – he helped us fully with the layout and the CAD drawings confirmed that he had completely nailed the brief by creating something that was completely bespoke to us.
How did you find the installation?
Our fitters were fantastic, we couldn’t praise them enough. Everything was completed in just one day.
What design and bedroom storage inside the wardrobe did you choose?
I really wanted a shaker style door in a rich and warming neutral so chose the Shaker Continental design in Cashmere for the fitted wardrobes. They run the entire width of our bedroom and I cannot believe just how much additional storage has been created.
Inside, we have two full hanging rails on one side, and one hanging rail and lots of drawers on the other. We then opted for a concealed TV in the middle. I love how when the doors are closed the TV disappears and we are left with a refined and serene space.
Beautiful and practical – as you can see the built-in bedroom furniture works perfectly for this busy young family. The concealed TV means that the bedroom can be the ideal focal point for family life, whilst being cleverly hidden to create a clutter-free space to relax and unwind after a busy day. And all of that storage has freed up precious space for the latest addition to Kimberley’s growing family.
